PMF uses disputed areas to attack Kurdistan Region: Peshmerga official
Story summary
On Wednesday night, a drone laden with TNT smashed into a storage building at the base in the Kurdistan Region’s capital, which hosts soldiers from a number of countries belonging to the International Coalition fighting Islamic State (ISIS). No one was hurt.
Shortly after, three rockets hit a Turkish base near Bashiqa, killing one soldier and wounding a teenage girl living nearby.
Lazgin told Turkish state-owned Anadolu Agency that the Peshmerga affairs ministry is working with Iraqi defense ministry to improve security in the disputed areas and prevent armed groups from exploiting the security vacuum there to launch attacks.
“Only the Iraqi Army should be in those areas and not the [PMF],” he said.
“I honestly say that the [PMF] in Iraq are not under control.”
