PUK council discusses party's internal regulations

Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) General Leadership Council member Dilpak Tahir said that the 121-member body met on Saturday, February 1, to discuss the party’s internal regulations.
It met for the first time in January, following elections at the party's congress in late December.
Separately, fellow council member Farid Asasard told party-affiliated media that the discussion was not completed yesterday.
The General Leadership Council is responsible for many of the internal decisions of the party, including choosing the next general-secretary, who it is expected to select soon.
The PUK held its long-awaited Fourth Congress in December, which party leaders billed as an opportunity to renew the party. It was the first since the illness and death of long-time party leader Jalal Talabani.
