A number of Kirkuk residents demonstrate against planned reopening of KDP offices in city

A number of Kirkuk Arabs and Turkmens demonstrated in front of the Joint Operations Square in the city to protest the transfer of the headquarters building of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) to the party.
According to Mawazin News, a local source said: "The protests started after an agreement was reached between the central government and the Kurdistan Regional Government to evacuate the buildings and hand it over to the KDP."
It is to be noted that following the events after the referendum on the independence of Kurdistan in September 2017 and the deployment of central government forces in Kirkuk and the disputed areas between Erbil and Baghdad, the KDP evacuated its headquarters in these areas.
