Seven Iraqi militia killed in Anbar

Story summary
Seven members of the Hashd al-Ashairy were killed and ten others were wounded when a car bomb exploded in Anbar governorate on Sunday, February 28, according to a security source.

According to NRT the members of the Eighth Infantry Brigade found a white pick-up truck belonging to Islamic State (ISIS) militants in western Haditha district. While dismantling the bomb, it detonated.

The Hashd al-Ashairy is made up of Sunni tribal fighters.

Meanwhile, reports stated that that three civilians were killed in Hatra district, south of Mosul, when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded.

In December, 2017, Iraqi federal security forces, in cooperation with the Peshmerga forces and covered by the US-led coalition airstrikes, declared victory over ISIS. The militant group has resorted to guerrilla hit-and-run tactics after losing all its territory. It is especially active in the disputed areas claimed by Erbil and Baghdad, where security is not as tight.
