Soleimani assassination won’t result in talks: Iranian spokesman
Story summary
Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas al-Musavi said on Sunday, January 5, that the assassination of Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani would not bring it to the negotiating table.
“Tehran does not want war and no one can tell Tehran what to do. The decision is ours to make and our response to the assassination Qassem Soleimani will be different,” al-Musavi said during a press conference.
“There will be no negotiations over Soleimani’s assassination and the one who has replaced him shall follow in his footsteps and plans,” he said.
According to NRT he further added “Washington’s message to Iran was threatening and harsh. Iran will not falter under stress and pressure and will not negotiate.”
Soleimani, commander of the Revolutionary Guards’ foreign legions, was martyred in the US strike on his convoy at Baghdad airport on Friday.
