Kurds unlikely to cut ties with Baghdad due to the Kurdistan Region's share in 2023 budget: MP

Story summary
A representative of the State of Law Coalition in the Iraqi parliament considered it unlikely that the Kurds would cut ties with Baghdad due to the Kurdistan Region's share in the 2023 budget.

In an interview with Iraq's Al-Efrat TV channel, Ali al-Fatlawi said: "The House of Representatives is moving forward with a consensus regarding the approval of the 2023 Iraqi budget bill, and we will never reach the stage of cutting Kurdish relations with Baghdad, because the appeal to the constitution and decisions by the federal court will end the disputes between Baghdad and Erbil."

Stating that the decision of the Federal Court prohibiting the sending of money to the Kurdistan Regional Government requires a review of the Oil and Gas Law, in addition to the Election Law, which includes controversial issues, Al-Fatlawi added: The recent decision of the Federal Court cannot be challenged by any party, because this court will end the disputes between the federal governments and the Kurdistan Region, so any objection requires patience and reconsideration of the court's decision.
