Turkey jet bombs north of Sulaimani

Story summary
A Turkish warplane bombarded Dukanian valley, 5 kilometers from Gulala village, in the northeast of Sulaimani governorate on Friday, April 22, the mayor of Mawet district told NRT.

There was a single bombardment and it caused no casualties, Mayor Kamaran Hassan said.

Turkish drones also bombarded the area between Mount Zinui Spi and Safra village in Sharbazher, north of Sulaimani city.

Turkish warplanes previously bombarded the area in June 2020 when the resort of Kunamasi in Sharbazher came under airstrike, killing one person and wounding ten.

The airstrikes on Friday come amid a fresh cross-border offensive from the Turkish military, "Operation Claw Lock,” that began on Monday.

The Turkish military staged ground and air operations across the border targeting the regions of Metina, Zap and Avasin-Basyan in the north of Duhok.
