Iranian parliamentary delegation meets Syria PM in Damascus

Syrian SANA news agency reported on Friday that Syria’s Prime Minister Hussein Arnous held talks with Abbas Golroo, heading a delegation of Iran-Syria Parliamentary Friendship Group, and said that expansion of mutual cooperation is in line with both nations’ interests.

Arnous addressed the Iranian delegation that the Syrian government intends to develop economic and trade relationship with Iran in order to create new horizons appropriate with the strategic relations between the two friendly nations.

He also went on to say that the two sides are trying to sign bilateral contracts, implement joint ventures, and get rid of existing obstacles as soon as possible, IRNA reported.

For his turn, Golroo said that the Iranian delegation aims to increase coordination and cooperation as well as removing hurdles in order to advance joint projects.

According to the Iranian lawmaker, the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran attaches special importance to expansion of ties with friendly countries and strategic allies, including Syria.

In a Thursday meeting with the Iranian parliamentary delegation, Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad expressed gratitude for Tehran’s support for Damascus in all political, military and economic fields. Both sides emphasized that parliamentary diplomacy will help Syria and Iran to better defend their nations’ interests.

Mekdad and Golroo also discussed the current situation in the occupied lands of Palestine, underlining the need for standing against occupation and expressing support for the Palestinian cause.
