Turkey- Kurdistan Region border crossing closed due to coronavirus

Turkish Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca said on late Saturday (February 29) that the border crossings between Turkey and the Kurdistan Region have been closed and all flights to and from Turkey have been canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak in Iraq.
According to Koca, no vehicles will be allowed to cross the border.
“The closure is temporary and is linked to the situation in Iraq. It is a preventative measure against the coronavirus,” Koca said.
Erbil International Airport on Saturday told NRT Digital Media that all flights between Iraq and Turkey have been halted. Pegasus Airlines has said that it is allowing only Turkish citizens to board its flights.
Iraq recorded five new coronavirus cases on Saturday, four in Baghdad and one in Babil province, taking the total number of cases in the country to 13.
