Iraq says October elections will not be postponed

Iraqi presidencies stressed that the elections need to be an opportunity to overcome the issues and obstacles which the country is suffering from, NRT said in a report.
“The recent events in the country have a negative impact on the national efforts aimed at achieving security and stability and preserving the state’s prestige and sovereignty,” the statement read.
On Tuesday, two protesters were killed and at least twenty others were wounded during mass anti-government protests which came in response to attacks that targeted more than 70 activists, including the recent killing of anti-government campaigner Ihab al-Wazni in Karbala and wounding of journalist Ahmed Hassan.
