Four Iraqi refugees killed in Syria in 10 days

Story summary
A human rights monitoring group revealed on Tuesday that at least four Iraqi refugees have been assassinated in Syria’s al-Hol camp within the past 10 days.

Unidentified gunmen opened fire at an Iraqi refugee who used to work for the Internal Security Forces “Asayish”, in front of his tent in the second section in al-Hol camp, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.
“Clashes took place between the members of “Asayish” and the gunmen who carried out the assassination, but they managed to escape after injuring one member of “Asayish”,” the monitor added.
Earlier on January 3, another Iraqi refugee was shot dead in front of her tent of the camp, which came a few days after a similar incident was reported in the same camp where an Iraqi refugee was killed by unknown armed men on December 28, 2020.
According to the Britain-based monitoring group, unidentified gunmen assassinated an Iraqi refugee in al-Hol camp on December 25, who reportedly worked with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) intelligence.
