This came following an unidentified explosion that took place near Sulaimani International Airport in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) on Friday.
In an exclusive statement to North Press, Ventura said the “attack against a convoy that included US personnel is under investigation.”  
The SDF Commander in Chief, Mazloum Abdi, condemned the suspected Turkish attack on Sulaimani International Airport, noting that the “patriotic and humanitarian” stances of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) party annoy Turkey.
“The Department of Defense forcefully opposes any action that threatens the safety and security of US personnel,” Ventura added. “We are relieved that nobody was injured in the convoy attack in Sulaimani on Friday.”  
The Pentagon spokesperson stressed that the US forces will remain in Syria and Iraq and will continue supporting the “local partner forces to achieve the enduring defeat of ISIS.”
