In an article critical of Turkey's treatment of the Kurds inside the country, Iraq and Syria, Green Left wrote: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has shown determination to confront all Kurds, wherever the Kurds seek a self-governing system, they face an attack by Turkey.

The Australian magazine believes the West's reaction to Turkish attacks against the Kurds has led to Ankara's becoming more daring.

Turkey battles Kurds in Syria with Western-made weapons that the West has provided Turkey for decades and Ankara has used the weapons to crack down on the Kurds, the weekly Green Left continued in the article.

The paper believes the West is fundamentally against the Kurdish movements and that the West is an accomplice with Turkey against the Kurds.

Green Left also noted that Turkey used German tanks and British combat equipment to attack Syrian Kurds in the two operations in 2018 and 2019.

The weekly also noted that Turkey is using the Syrian refugee card as a means of pressure against the West, especially Europe, and Europeans have provided billions of dollars for Turkey in fear of opening the route for the influx of refugees into the continent.
